The best Thai in Glenelg? Here's how to judge for yourself

"Best Thai in Glenelg" is a big claim, and we're not going to make it for you — you've got a mouth and an opinion, and those are the only two things that settle it. What we can do is tell you what actually separates good Thai from the tired version, so you know what you're tasting for. Then come in and mark us against it.
It's made to order, never sitting in a bain-marie
The fastest way to spot lazy Thai food is heat that's already been cooked. Curries that have been simmering since lunchtime go flat and one-note; noodles batch-fried at 4PM turn soft and sad by the time they reach you. Every plate we send out is cooked from cold in its own wok, one serve at a time — that's where the smoky edge Thai cooks call wok hin, the breath of the wok, actually comes from.
It's slower. It's also the whole difference, and it's why we'd rather you wait ten minutes than eat something that's been waiting for you.
The pastes and sauces are built from scratch
A green curry is only as good as its paste — lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime, coriander root, chilli, the lot, pounded down rather than spooned out of a jar. Our Pad Thai leans on real tamarind balanced with fish sauce and palm sugar, not ketchup and sugar, which is why it comes out tangy and savoury instead of sweet and orange.
You can taste the difference across the whole menu — the Choo Chee, the green curry, the Panang — each one carries its own base, not a shared shortcut.
Cooked to your spice, seven nights a week
Good Thai food meets you where you are. Tell us mild and we'll keep the chilli off it without stripping the flavour; tell us Thai-hot and we'll take you seriously. Plenty of dishes — Pad Thai, cashew stir-fry — are gentle by default and only get their heat from what you add. Nobody should be scared of the menu.
We're a family kitchen that's been doing this on Jetty Road since 2023, open for dinner every night from 5PM. Bold flavours, made fresh, cooked by people who grew up eating it.
Come judge for yourself
We're at 39 Jetty Road, in the heart of Glenelg — a two-minute walk from the beach and the tram. Book a table and eat it under the lanterns, browse the full menu first, or grab it as takeaway on the way home. However you order, order it hungry.
