Looking for Thai near Brighton? It's a ten-minute drive up the coast
10 July 2026 · 2 min read · Rim Thang Thai, Glenelg
Brighton has plenty going for it — the jetty, the Esplanade, good coffee. What it doesn't have is a dedicated authentic Thai kitchen. The good news: one of the coast's best is a straight ten-minute run up Brighton Road to Glenelg.
Rim Thang Thai sits at 39 Jetty Rd, in the middle of the Glenelg strip. Family-run since 2023, cooking Thai street food the way it's done back home — woks on high heat, curry pastes in coconut milk, and handmade dumplings that have become the thing regulars order every single time.
Worth the drive?
That depends what you're after. If it's a polite Aussie-Thai with the heat dialled to zero, plenty of places will do. If it's Pad Thai with real tamarind, a green curry that tastes of kaffir lime and basil, or Tom Yum with proper sour-spicy depth — that's what we cook, and you set the spice level on every dish.
The room's half the fun: there's a real blue-and-yellow tuk-tuk inside, milk-crate lanterns overhead and a neon sign over a mural of Thai landmarks. Kids love it; so does everyone's Instagram.
